And ?

Welcome to Absolutely Delicious: my blogsite where I post recipes, details of what we’ve cooked, kitchen hints and tips, rumours and reviews of various kitchenalia.

There are four of us. Me and three women, two of whom are in their teens. During the working week the teenagers want to eat earlier than we do – if indeed we are back at home when they need to feed. Generally, we try to eat one (or fewer) take out meal per week as an indulgence, cook fresh ingredients when we can, eat several portions of vegetables per day, have seafood at least once per week. I like to plan the weeks worth of meals ahead and pre-prepare as much as I can, for example I will roast a joint on Sunday and as the oven is on I can also put something else in the oven for later in the week. Today I am cooking a chicken but I will make a ratatouille at the same time for Monday.

She is into the eat for your blood group philosophy – she’s an O type so needs a higher protein – hunter gatherer diet. I’m A type. I work best with a Mediterranean or Asian diet and am the only one who will drink milk.

As you can probably guess growing teenagers need ‘grazing’ fodder and nibbles so we often make cakes, breakfast bars and biscuits: at least you know what is in them if you make your own.

Normally, I work in Medical Devices & IT and she works in the health service.
